Stunning Silk Scarves and Shawls for Those Crisp Winter Walks

Technology can be a wonderful thing. It makes many aspects of our life safer, cleaner and easier. Yet, modern technology can also be detrimental. Too often, people sit stolidly in front of the computer or television instead of taking an opportunity to enjoy the physical and natural world. Sometimes, we think about going outside, but the thought of getting cold puts an end to such thoughts. In the winter months, we tend to hibernate, waiting for the warmer days of spring and summer before we take walks and get involved in anything outdoors.

Research shows walking to be among the most beneficial forms of exercise. Even when time is in short supply, you can go for a brisk walk in a nearby park or around the block. Doing so on a daily basis will help you feel better and increase your chances of a good night’s sleep. If you combine your walk with that of your friends’ it becomes a social exercise as well. This requires a commitment ensuring you will keep up the effort on a regular basis. Walking with friends makes the time pass more quickly. Better still, it is simple and, unlike jogging, demands nothing in the way of specialized equipment.

During the winter, however, it is essential you keep yourself warm. Doing so mean you will enjoy your walks and keep them up. Yet, winter clothing tends to be bulky. This interferes with the natural motion of the body and may cause the body to overheat too quickly. You can avoid this by employing silk shawls and scarves. These unique accessories keep you warm but are easy to remove when you become uncomfortably hot.

This may seem odd to you, but it is true silk is one of the best natural heat-retaining fabrics. This explains its use in the past as material for aviators’ scarves and its continued use as lining for high-end coats and jackets. The manufacturers and tailors only use 100% pure silk. Fine craftspeople use this same quality fabric to make distinctive hand painted silk shawls and scarves.

Hand dyed silk scarves and hand painted shawls are extremely stylish accessories capable of matching almost any garment, including casual attire typical of being worn while taking a walk in a park. Wearing such fabrics is sure to add such a sensation of sumptuousness to even the plainest jean, sweater and jacket/coat combination, you will actually look forward to your daily walks as you will be able to show it off again-and-again making even walking in winter both a warm and joyful experience.

Fabulous Silk Scarves for Those Bad Hair Days

There is nothing worse than getting up in the morning and looking in the mirror to find that what was a neatly coiffed hairdo when you went to bed, now makes you look as though you have been dragged through a hedge backwards. No matter how good the cut though, it happens to all of us at times and you can bet that when it does it is going to be on one of those days when there just is not time to reach for the straighteners or the tongs.

Naturally curly hair which has a tendency to go frizzy after a night’s sleep can be a particular nightmare to tame in the mornings, but perfectly straight hair can have its moments too. While short hairstyles or those which incorporate layers can frequently be problematic, leaving you looking as though you have spikes sticking out of your head at strange angles, even long hair can develop kinks and waves during the night, especially if your head becomes hot and sweaty.

Bad hair days are not just about unruly hair though. Women who suffer from bad dandruff or scalp conditions which cause their hair to thin can often be left to deal with less than perfect locks. Whilst on the good, or at least better days, it can be great to leave your hair on show, on the not so good ones, many prefer the cover-up option.

Of course, hats are one great solution for bad hair days, but only if you happen to be popping out to the store or walking the dog. If you have to spend the day in the office though, then it is not going to take long before your colleagues start nudging one another and giggling when you fail to remove it. What you can do instead though, is to invest in a collection of fabulous women’s silk scarves to provide a quick and easy cover-up which can be worn both indoors and outside.

Women’s silk scarves come in a variety of sizes and you can either choose from the more traditional square shape or the much longer ones. Depending upon how you choose to tie it, you can either cover up all or just part of your hair, but the great thing is that no-one will ever know why you are wearing a scarf at all.

Silk scarves are just gorgeous accessories and of course women wear them purely for decoration, in just the same way that they would wear a piece of jewelry. To all intents and purposes, your pretty headscarf could be nothing more than a fashion statement and not a soul needs to know what is going on with your untamed hair underneath. If you really want to pull off your look with style and panache, however, choose the best quality scarf that you can afford – then your cover-up job will be even less obvious. Select a luxury hand painted silk scarf featuring a unique design and you really will be the talk of the office, but for all the right reasons!
